Fischer owns a personal best of 8:06.88, less than half a second off the school-record pace, and he will be gunning for that record in a fast heat that includes competitors from programs such as Michigan, Michigan State, Georgia Tech and Indiana. Fischer is set to race at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday morning. Mary Young (Urbandale, Iowa) aims to keep her streak of first-place finishes alive as she has won all three 60-meter hurdle competitions she has entered this season. However, this week Young steps into the blocks against hurdlers from Texas, Kentucky, Maryland, Kansas, Arizona State and Nebraska. In the field events, Taryn Rolle (Nassau, The Bahamas) returns to compete in her primary event this week, the triple jump. In four competition in the event this season, she has two wins and a third-place finish. Last weekend, she nearly set a personal best in the long jump with a mark that ranks as the eighth best in the Missouri Valley Conference.
